October 2018 - ANU International Business Plan Competition

Every year, the Australian National University (ANU) holds the ANU International Business Plan Competition, with support from the Canberra Business Chamber, ACT Government and Canberra Innovation Network.

ANU International Business Plan Competition

Established in 2011, the competition gives Canberra-based companies the opportunity to develop the next generation of business leaders by mentoring them over the course of a semester.

In 2018, ToukanLabs participated by working alongside a combination of 12 undergraduate and postgraduate students, split into four teams. These students worked with our staff through a market screening process. Following this, each student team decided on an unpenetrated foreign market for ToukanLabs to enter. They then put together a market entry strategy and market expansion plan.

The final stage of the competition saw teams present their work to a panel of expert judges alongside their classmates who worked with other businesses. After deliberation, the ToukanLabs’ mentored team, 3M, was announced the overall winner for their international business plan on the expansion of OpenEyes™ into France.
